West Bengal Bridge Association: History & Brief

West Bengal Bridge Association (WBBA) was founded in 1938 with a mission to promote, encourage, control, and organise the game of bridge in West Bengal and to serve the bridge playing interest of its members. WBBA, is affiliated to Bridge Federation of India (BFI) which is the apex body in India recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Govt. of India in priority Category. WBBA is solely promoting the game of Bridge inside West Bengal as well as outside of Bengal.

Committee Details

WBBA operates through a number of committees focussed on various activities. The apex committee is called the Executive committee which is headed by a President with a number of secretaries, treasurer and vice presidents focussed on various aspects of the game. Mr. Hari Mohan Bangur

Mr. Hari Mohan Bangur is an Indian businessman, who is currently the Chairman of Shree Cement. He is the son of Benu Gopal Bangur, and great grandson of Mugnee Ram Bangur.

Mr. Hari Mohan Bangur, Chairman of Shree Cement Co. Ltd and one of the pioneer business leaders of the nation. He is a recipient of the prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst Young India in 2016 and again by Forbes India in 2017. In 2023 he has been nominated among India’s Most Trusted Leaders by Great Place to Work India.

Ms. Monica Jajoo

Monica has been an avid bridge player since 2013. Her team has won many titles over the past several years including wins at Solan and Vishakhapatnam (both national level tournaments). It was the runners up at the Ahmedabad Summer Nationals a few years ago.
